Concrete pumps offer some particular challenges to the radio-remote control installer.  They are typically classified as high-risk plant, and the requirement for a safety-rated remote control system is paramount. Strangely, we continue to see many sub-standard remote controls fitted to concrete pumps - especially imported types.  But as well as requiring a high degree of safety, concrete pumps also operate on construction sites, where there are many types of radio controlled equipment (cranes, concrete mixers, trenching machines, etc), so resistance to interference needs to be excellent. Furthermore, operating in and around buildings under construction can make heavy demands on the radio link, as it needs to deal with obstacles including walls, and mesh cages. Line Pumps, Trailer Pumps Typically, these systems just require the pump to be switched on and off, as well as other sundry functions, such as a vibrator, or start/stop the engine. The MITO provides a completely sealed unit that is very well suited to the rugged environment, and if a safety STOP function is required, the LK series is a good choice, and is also available with  flow potentiometer. Boom Pumps, Static Pumps, Placing Booms, Shotcreting machines Smaller booms and shot-creting machines often use non-proportional valves, as very fine control is not required. This type of valve is well-suited to the MJ series which can mount either 2 or 3 dual-axis joysticks to suit pumps up to 5 stage (plus slew). Larger booms typically feature proportionally-controlled valve banks, and the Dynamic series remotes are well-suited. The FJS remote is very compact and suits smaller pumps up to 3-stage, whereas the FJR is the most commonly used model, as it is compact and lightweight. and can control booms up to 5-stage with 3 x 2-axis joysticks.
